Now Foods’ Hyaluronic Acid Firming Serum

now foods' hyaluronic acid firming serum

This serum is part of a skin care line that features hyaluronic acid to treat the signs of aging for mature skin. The serum is highly concentrated, and meant to be used as more of a spot treatment, applied directly to the problem areas, like the areas around the eyes and mouth, or the forehead. The product claims to use hyaluronic acid to increase the elasticity of the skin, as well as increase collagen production. This product is very inexpensive – about $12.75 for one fluid ounce. In order to truly increase collagen production, the product would have to contain some chemicals that are proven to permeate the skin and most of those ingredients are fairly expensive. We need to look closely at the active ingredients in this product to determine if it can truly deliver the results it claims.

Ingredients

De-ionized Water, Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis) Leaf Gel*, Vegetable Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Natural Aroma, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Green Tea Extract, Algae Extract, Soluble Collage and Cedar Bark Extract.

What do these ingredients mean?

This product contains mostly water and aloe vera, which many customers disliked. They found the product sticky and tightening, like glue on their faces. There is also more aroma in this product than hyraluronic acid, which many women disliked, finding the odor too strong. More importantly, however, is the fact that hyraluronic acid, when applied topically, does nothing for the skin. Injected, it has all the benefits listed, but since this is an external application, we know that this product will not be effective. The soluble collagen is also ineffective, since breaking down collagen molecules that much makes them unable to attach to the collagens in the skin.

Conclusion

We would not recommend this product. It is ineffective and cheaply made, meaning that it will most likely irritate the skin and will definitely not reduce the signs of aging.
